Lately, I came across the television and I could see a news story in which they talked about women employments and how their salaries compared against those of men. At that very moment, I realized that even in 2010, women’s wages are not reaching parity yet. Of course, they have come a long way since the enormous income gaps of the 1950s. But after doing some research, I passed in front of some very shocking statistics that I would like to share with you. I think that data speaks for themselves and if you are a woman, you’ll really have some stuff to think about. Here are some of them:
According the latest Bureau of Labor statistics:
- For every dollar a man earns, a woman earns 80 cents.
According to the author of the book “Rich Women”:
- 47% of women more than 50 years old are single which imply that they are monetarily in charge for themselves.
- 50% of marriages end in divorce. Guess who usually ends up with the children? The woman. Therefore, she has to be able to support financially herself and her children.
- A woman’s level of comfort drops an average of 73% at some point, in the first year after a divorce.
- Of the elderly living in poverty: 3 out of 4 are women. 4 out of 5 women were not poor when their husbands were living
And a very shocking one:
- Only 20% of baby boomer women will be wealthy in their retreat. Therefore, 80% of them won’t be.
All of these statistics on women and money problems are unbearable. The thing is that unfortunately, there are still many women who don’t think enough that they run a huge risk of being solely responsible for their financial security within their lifetime. Many depends on someone else when it comes to get wealthy – a husband, a family member, the government or even a boss. And there is nothing bad depending on someone… in fact even men depends on their boss and we even can see today men depending on their spouse! But what if you could depend only on you? Did you ever think about that?
More and more moms, nowadays, touch the home based business industry. The great thing is that in many of these home based business opportunities, you are not required to know everything at all.
